This house outside Polonia, well-built in the late 19th century, had a kitchen addition of poor quality added in the 1930s. Our project involved removing the old kitchen addition, rebuilding a larger kitchen, remodeling a bathroom, creating a master bedroom/bathroom suite from two existing first floor bedrooms, straightening a sagging living room ceiling, installing vapor barrier, insulating to R-32 walls and R-60 ceiling, and installing a masonry heater.

The masonry heater serves as a beautiful and functional room divider between kitchen and living room, radiating on all four sides. It also has a hydronic component that heats water used for the hydronic radiant in-floor and baseboard heating system. Plumbing and heating work done by Bob’s Plumbing of Amherst.
